Photography by Gail Griggs

I was recently lucky enough to have the fantastic Gail Griggs answer some questions for me.
Gail has a great shop on Folksy and an ongoing project on Facebok which involves an orange fish. This fish appears in many different places and we are big fans in our house .. have also got other family members and friends checking out his antics. We were shopping once when my son excitedly shouted that he had found fish in paperchase.
Well let's find out more....
What made you decide to start a 365 day challenge?
Having a young family means I don't get much time to myself and I wanted to reclaim some time to take more photographs. I thought one a day would keep me focused and make sure I did it, rather than putting taking pictures off until a tomorrow that never comes.

Why a cute orange fish?
I did have a few ideas, but the main reason fish was chosen was because he was small enough to fit in my bag, was unbreakable, waterproof and colourful. I thought having something to take an image of would help the creative juices. Some days I'm glad I can just take an image of the fish without much thought, other days it drives me mad that he has to be included!

Does "fish" have a name?
He's just 'fish' ... I should really have thought of a name by now though.

What's your favourite/s fish day?
That's a tough one as I have so many images to choose from now!
I think 'Rainbow fish' taken on 31st January http://www.flickr.com/photos/gailgriggs/5404236723/in/set-72157625594470589
'Sunny Day' taken on 8th April http://www.flickr.com/photos/gailgriggs/5599967719/in/set-72157625594470589/
 are my favourites though.

How do you stay inspired with the project?
I can be quite stubborn and now I've started and got this far I can't give up! I find a walk outside, even if only in the garden, helps to clear my mind and get creativity flowing. However, I do find that inspiration tends to strike at any moment and I need to grab my camera there and then to capture it!
I've also received a lot of support on Facebook and Flickr and the comments I receive through these forums I think is the real reason I've kept up the project this far. It started off as a personal challenge, but to have inspired someone else to start their own 365 photography project is truly amazing.

Does fish travel with you for when the perfect place strikes?
Yes! He's always in my bag just in case. He comes almost everywhere now. As I leave the house I check I have my purse, keys and fish ...

Where can we find the fish and any links to your work?
I post my images (almost) daily to
Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/photographybygailgriggs
Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gailgriggs/sets/72157625594470589/
Tumblr:

You can also buy prints of the fish images on Folksy: http://www.folksy.com/shops/GailGriggs

If you like the look of one of the fish pictures then you can select that specific one to have as a card.
Gail not only does the fish project her photography is amazing. Pop across to the links and find out more ... if you don't already, be sure to "LIKE" the fish project and then you can keep up with his antics yourself.

Thank you Gail :oDD

Lilipop send a link when he starts it.

My son started a project duck inspired by Gails fish but he's finding fitting it into senior school work and other commitments harder than he realised :o(
