Try Something New ...

... well i did and it actually turned out pretty ace!!

Okay, i may be getting a bit big for my boots here but it turned out so well i actually did a little jump for joy even gave an ekk of excitment!!

A project had been brewing in my mind for awhile.
A new binding style had been calling my name.
Along came the perfect book that would suit the new binding style and idea perfectly.

The Result:
no stitching on the spine ...
... lots of pretty pages ...
... tabs and stitching ...
... an assortment of plain and patterned pages ...
... hidden pockets ...

It is certainly a chunky journal and the first of many to come.

Have you tried anything new lately??

an idea formed ...

... a dangerous thing, especially if i am home alone as my ideas usually involve an injury to myself or damage to something i am using!!

This time it was different, this one was going to be good.

It came about after thinking how to display my craft fair stalls.
The pile of books currently being used are very heavy to lift and display, storing them is a problem. Plus each fair i do, i look at them and know the display could be more creative, better use could be made of the space.

A random, most awesome, spontaneous, idea formed.

All that was needed - a dolls house!

Here is where thanks go to a lovely lady - Rachel.
She gave me this beauty:
It was in a state of cosmetic repair but structually sound
and even better - she didn't mind what i was about to do with it.

A few mistakes were made,
it wasn't as simple as first thought
 BUT
it was a lot of fun.
 Beware - Photo overload below:

inside attic space

inside main room/display area

close up of "shabby chic" details
(didn't want it to look too new)

side and roof close ups

 inside front

when spotting this little detail
name of previous owner
on the window pane did feel a moment of guilt at painting them ...

the hardest part of the whole project was finding one of these tiny hooks!!
After searching many stores my brother in law produced one from the depths of his shed.

The fantastically, great, result of this project is that i can put all my journals inside, close the front and --- good to go!
The attic area is a great storage place to hide items i want to keep at hand but out of view during fairs.

Reshirt

Gemma Payne of Molly Moo & Jessica Too
(folksy.com/shops/GemmaPayne) recently posted on the Folksy forums about an exciting project from Pedestrian Gallery, Leicester:

You brought a t-shirt and then recycled/transformed it into something different. The finished item will be part of an exhibition held at the gallery and you can even sell the item if you want.
Well, as you know I love recycling clothes for my journal covers so seemed the ideal project for me.

I was sent a black t-shirt and transformed it into....
This photo shows how the logo stretches over the front and back cover.
One label is a pen holder and the other an embellishment.
I purposely left the binding cord long and added a button to match the logo.

There are more details on the Pedestrian blog plus all the other fab entries.
The exhibition is from 22nd until 28th May.
Pedestrian Gallery, 31 Rutland Street, Leicester.

Will be keeping my eye out for more fun projects.
